There really hasn’t been a worse cases within CAVA, besides joining classes on different devices like tablet or phone. The people at CAVA attend to help you so much in school, they give you guidance throughout your career.

This school has helped me so much as a student. They have provided me resources and have taught me real life skills that I wouldn’t have learn at my previous school before attending this one. I am glad that I chose to attend this school.

The highlights of California Virtual Academy at San Diego is the flexibility within choice of courses and schedule. Furthermore, the opportunities and resources offered by the school and staff is unlike any other in-person schools I have attended. Moreover, the community of staff as well as students are welcoming and accepting of all, so the classroom atmosphere is friendly. While there are not many performing arts clubs, opportunities for social interaction, as well as time spent on a screen, however, it best serves independent, school-orientated students who look to better their academia and future career.

I'll start with the Positives. For one, it let me use my chosen name instead of my Dead name on my accounts (Besides for the emails, and the fact they misspelled my name), which is already great for anyone who has been forced to use their Dead name a lot. Another Great thing is how many choices they give for electives. Psychology, Astronomy, Image Design and Editing, Journalism, Music Appreciation, Creative Writing, I've been able to take all of these over the past few semesters! Now for the Negatives. For some of the classes, it can feel really awkward, as if the Teacher doesn't know how to start their lesson or what they're talking about. There's also a Class that is necessary to attend every Monday - Wednesday at around 9am called "Homeroom", which, from experience, doesn't really teach anything new. Overall, I like my experience here and wouldn't go switch back to my old High School, but it definitely isn't perfect.

Being an online school, it is very nice and flexible. The teachers communicate well if they cannot attend a class, and many provide tons of resources and office hours if you need any help. There are clubs you can join, and sometimes, the school hosts "outings" where you can meet up with your peers and hang out. Because of the flexibility, though, you do have to remain self-disciplined so that you do not fall behind in your work.

My overall time with this school was wonderful. I have been in K12 itself since six years old, and now I'm in 11th grade. Throughout the years, this school has prepared me for college courses (a few of which I am taking currently). It is an entirely different experience than public school, because you aren't exposed to the bad people and dangerous situations. The education system is easy to follow if you don't fall behind, and even then, the counselors and teachers work hard to help you. The only issues with this school are that you have less chances to socialize and that sometimes teachers/counselors/administrators don't actually know what they are doing because they don't have much experience. However, there are many clubs and events available for you to join and get together with classmates. Administrators and teachers are also constantly being trained as well, so your schooling will get easier. In all, I believe that CAVA has trained me to be very independent with my education.

I personally enjoy CAVA mostly because of the homeschool/ virtual aspect. It allows you to work at your own pace and isn’t as time consuming as attending a brick and mortar school is. Also, the school is fairly lenient with deadlines as most quizzes and assignments can be labeled overdue but will not close until the end of the quarter. I also think the online aspect of CAVA allows for more opportunities and the ability to spend more of your time on extracurricular activities and things outside of school.

The best parts are the wide curriculum and college planning and honors program. I don’t really have a bad experience with this school!

You are able to create your own schedule, but unlike homeschool, it has a day-by-day structure , meetings with your teacher, and student connection. You are also able to explore career pathways to get ahead for college.

So far deciding do my senior year virtually has been a great choice. Every teacher I have has been nothing but nice to me, helping me every step of the way during my transition to online learning. I love CAVA’s system of learning because it gives the student complete task independence. We can plan when we want to work on certain assignments, and live sessions are only forty minutes long. That gives us the rest of the day to complete what we planned for do. Since CAVAs school website is useable all day and night long, students can stay up late, or wake up earlier than class starts to complete work. Also the teachers are lenient with most assignments, and won’t deduct points for late submissions. Despite CAVA being online, field trips still occur, many clubs are offered to the students, and some events are held in person. When I finally get to be around my classmates next year as we graduate together, meeting online or not we’ll feel just as connected to one another.

This online school was easy to navigate and teachers were wonderful. It offered flexibility without sacrificing the quality of education. I wish I had attended from the beginning of my public school life. I would enroll my children here.

The online format has been a much better option for me than traditional public school was. Overall I have had a great experience, my one critique would be that some of the elective courses are a bit out of date.

California Virtual Academy@ San Diego or as we like to call it CAVA is an amazing virtual school for any K-12 student. I have been at CAVA for 3 years including this school year. I am currently in my 10th-grade year and I have never been so proud of my grades and my academic success. The teachers and counselors are amazing. This school gives you so many opportunities to better yourself. I am currently in their Stride Career Prep program. In doing that I have chosen a career pathway for example Business and Marketing PBL Exploration which has allowed me to discover my interest in Business. I am able to broaden my knowledge of how to market products or services for a company. I am also in AP and Honor courses. I like the fact that you and your parents have a more hands-on approach to what courses you want to take and how challenging you want them to be. You are also able to talk to your counselor or any teacher about any problems you may be experiencing. I highly recommend CAVA!

I loved how flexible it was with when to turn in assignments. They let me know when my assignments were overdue but I could still turn them in on my own time without getting points docked. If I could change something it would be that the lessons should feel more personal and less like they are reading a script.

Method of learning convenient, but if you were in an abusive/hom*ophobic housing situation like me there is literally no way to talk to teachers without your every word automatically relayed to your parents which is quite frankly dangerous. Have attempted to talk about my diagnosed mental illnesses in the short minutes you get at the end of a class session to be brushed off with "we don't do that for that." Later I was diagnosed with a literal disease and suffering as a result with many symptoms that left me unable to catch up for months and my PTSD causing lack of sleep and was given no accommodations and merely given their regards and told to hurry along. My psychiatrists did not agree with this school's handling for years whatsoever. But if you're neurotypical and have none of above, you may have a good experience.
