NATIONAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: THE ROLES OF THE CHURCH (VOLUME 1) - Edited by E. A. Adewale

Science and Education Development Institute (SEDInst)

The subject of discussion in the following pages bespeaks the thoughtful consideration of the Christian reader. Development is a natural desire of man in everywhere of human existence, it is achievable, one only has to be truthful in the pursuit of it and do same with required instruments. At the National and Local levels, everyone regardless of the Religious affiliation, political concern and social or economic status has a duty to support every morally positive move engendered toward the development of our Nation. The church as well as other organized and cooperate bodies have their roles in making the development of our Nation a reality. Many things, too numerous to itemize are basically wrong in our Nation, if the church want to sincerely become relevant in the scheme of National Redemption of this Nation, it should do away with the coldness, unnecessary formality, worldliness and divisions. It should be borne in mind that prayerless, unholy and trifling walk of the church weakens her power, impedes her onward progress. Disjointed church is a danger to her immediate and remote environments. In the face of a complex web of problems and obstacles to the development of our Nation, vital matters practical Christian virtue at all levels have become absolutely necessary. Both from the scripture and secular literature the imperative of National development cannot be overemphasized. The church being the salt of the earth and light of the world should be the key to rapid progress towards transformation. The church must arise and take up the responsibility of raising men of competence, courage and character. Our church leaders must harness all resources and direct every energy toward spiritual, political, and socio-economic capacity building and make the church holistic in her evangelical drive. The collection of these various write ups is highly motivational and challenging. I salute the wisdom of the various contributors to the production of this work. Very practical and relevant manifestation and display of required virtuous Christianity in our civil society. Rev. E. A. Adewale, St. David’s Cathedral, Akure.
