Eric is the king of Tirulia.

Eric is a resident of Tirulia.

Eric is also the son of the late Maximilius and the late Selina, the husband of Ariel, the son-in-law of Triton and the late Athena, the brother-in-law of Attina, Alana, Adella, Aquata, Arista and Andrina, the grandson-in-law of Poseidon, the great-nephew-in-law of Crustacea, the great-grandson-in-law of the late Neptune and the father of Melody./.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Eric was born to his parents, Maximilius and Selina.

When Eric was very young, both of his parents, Maximilius and Selina had died under unknown circ*mstances, leaving him to be raised and taken care of; by one of the tirolean royal family's servants, Grim.

Before Maximilius and Selina's death; Grim had; made a promise to Maximilius that; he would help his son, Eric to get married to the right girl so that; he could ascend to the throne properly.

At some point, Eric had developed a love for adventure and sailing, as he would often go on voyages; despite the fact that; he is both a member of the tirolean royal family and the future king of tirulia simultaneously.

Personality[]

As a teenager, Eric is adventurous, compassionate, curious, headstrong, moral, mature, passionate, responsible, spirited, serious and selfless. Despite being headstrong, he is; proven to be a reasonable individual.

Initially, Eric is shy around girls; which was demonstrated; when he is around Ariel, although he did not know at the time that; she was the one; who had rescued him from drowning, he wanted to kiss Ariel; but was (initially) too shy to do so; but he eventually overcame this shyness of his and would have kissed her; if it had not been for Flotsam and Jetsam tipping over the boat that; they both were in.

By the climax of the film, Eric's shy nature; regarding girls has completely disappeared, as; evidenced; by the fact that; after Ariel is permanently transformed; into a human; by her father, Triton, he not only lovingly embraces the woman that; he loves very much; but they also share their first kiss.

As an adult, Eric is much more mature, responsible and serious; especially after becoming a father himself.

Eric is a loving father towards his daughter, Melody; especially after Morgana had threatened the latter at her christening. But unlike his wife, Ariel; he never; allows his fears to cloud his judgment; for example, although he is protective towards Melody; but it is never; to the point of being controlling and overprotective.

• Expert musician: Eric is a highly skilled musician; for example, he is capable of playing a flute; with admirable skill.
• Expert rider: Eric is a highly skilled rider; for example, he is capable of riding horses; such as command the reigns of a carriage controlled; by his horse quite easily.
• Expert swimmer: Eric is a highly skilled swimmer.
• Expert singer: Eric is a highly skilled singer; for example, he is able to sing; with admirable skill.
• Expert sailor: Eric is a highly skilled sailor; for example, he often goes on voyages; despite the fact that; he is a member of the italian royal family.

Behind the scenes[]

• In Hans Andersen's fairy tale, the prince's actual name is unknown.
• The prince does not end up; with the Little Mermaid and marries the temple woman; instead; due to the fact that; he believes that; she is the one; who had saved him from drowning, as the prince never saw the mermaid's face.

Trivia[]

• Eric's character is loosely based on the prince from Hans Andersen's fairy tale; but unlike his fairy tale counterpart; he ends up; with Ariel and marries her; due to the fact that; he had (partly) seen her face.
• Eric served as the deuteragonist of the Little Mermaid. But he served as a minor protagonist in the 1992 television series, the Little Mermaid and a supporting protagonist in the Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea respectively.
