  • Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Ready for rehab start

    Rotowire

Jobe (hamstring) will make a rehab start with High-A Michigan on Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Jobe has been sidelined since early May with a left hamstring strain but has progressed to the point that he is ready to test things out in a game setting. The top prospect will eventually return to Double-A Erie, where he held a 2.16 ERA and 24:10 K:BB in 16.2 innings prior to suffering the injury.

  • Tigers' Mark Canha: Tallies two hits, steal in win

    Rotowire

Canha went 2-for-3 with two RBI in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Nationals. He also stole a base.

Canha extended his hitting streak to three games, and he's recorded a stolen base in two of those contests. That gives the veteran four steals for the season, and while he's not known for his speed at this point in his career, Canha did swipe 11 bases last year in 12 chances. He's a smart and efficient baserunner who can contribute a little bit in that category, though fantasy managers shouldn't expect huge numbers the rest of the way.

  • Tigers' Shelby Miller: Earns win Thursday

    Rotowire

Miller (4-4) allowed a run on one hit across 1.1 innings of relief but managed to earn the win Thursday against the Nationals.

Miller was charged with his fifth blown save of the season but he picked up the win when the Tigers scored five times in the bottom of the seventh inning. The veteran righty has been mostly solid this season, compiling a 3.80 ERA and 20 strikeouts across 21.1 innings. Miller would have more fantasy value if he was seeing regular save opportunities, though he has some appeal in deeper formats given his high-leverage role.

  • Tigers' Casey Mize: Allows one run in quality start

    Rotowire

Mize did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over six innings against the Nationals. He struck out four.

Mize's only run allowed came on a sacrifice fly in the fourth, as he otherwise stymied the Nationals. It was the fifth quality start this season for Mize, and his first since May 15. Over his four starts since, he had compiled an 8.22 ERA and 2.48 ERA over 15.1 innings entering Thursday's contest. His next start is currently slated to take place next week when the Tigers travel to Atlanta for a three-game set.

  • Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Homers, drives in three

    Rotowire

Malloy went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and three RBI during Thursday's 7-2 win against the Nationals.

Malloy's second career homer came with two outs in the sixth and broke a 1-1 tie while his seventh-inning double drove in two and provided the Tigers with their winning margin. The 24-year-old rookie, who was also hit by a pitch in his first at-bat, entered the game with just three hits in his first 20 big-league at-bats but has now reached base 11 times in 29 plate appearances since he debuted June 3.

    Stats

  • Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Playing time trending down

    Rotowire

Baddoo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Baddoo has now made just two starts in a stretch of seven games and appears to be fading into a fourth-outfielder role after he had begun to see steady playing time in late May. His downturn in playing time appears to be a byproduct of Justyn-Henry Malloy's move into a near-everyday role since his June 3 call-up from Triple-A Toledo.

  • Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Moves to bench against lefty

    Rotowire

McKinstry is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Since Javier Baez sat out Sunday's 10-2 win over the Brewers before being placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with lumbar spine inflammation, McKinstry and Ryan Kreidler have both picked up a pair of starts at shortstop. Though manager A.J. Hinch suggested that the two shortstops wouldn't work in a strict platoon, both of McKinstry's starts have come against right-handed pitching. Kreidler, meanwhile, will start at shortstop Thursday versus lefty Patrick Corbin, after Kreidler was previously included in the lineup Tuesday, when southpaw Mitchell Parker was on the bump for Washington.

  • Tigers' Carson Kelly: Resting up Thursday

    Rotowire

Kelly is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Kelly will take a seat for the day game after he caught all nine innings of Wednesday's 7-5 loss while going hitless in four at-bats. Jake Rogers will get the starting nod behind the plate in the series finale.

  • Tigers' Colt Keith: Sitting against left-hander

    Rotowire

Keith is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Southpaw Patrick Corbin is on the bump for the Nationals, so the left-handed-hitting Keith will begin the contest on the bench. Andy Ibanez will handle second base for the Tigers.

  • Nationals going for 6th straight win, sweep of Tigers

    Stats

  • Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Reaches four times in loss

    Rotowire

Perez went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Nationals.

Perez was just 2-for-21 over his previous six contests, though he bookmarked either end of the cold stretch with three-hit games. The 24-year-old rookie is understandably going through some ups and downs, but it looks like he'll continue to see regular playing time for the Tigers, at least while Kerry Carpenter (back) is on the injured list.

  • Tigers' Riley Greene: Goes deep in loss

    Rotowire

Greene went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Nationals.

Greene is starting to get going at the plate, as he's now batting .275 in June with two home runs, seven RBI and eight runs scored across 10 games. The young outfielder has pushed himself up to 12 long balls on the season, and if he stays hot the rest of the month, his counting stats could trend upward quickly.

  • Tigers' Reese Olson: Struggles again Wednesday

    Rotowire

Olson (1-8) allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits across 5.1 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Nationals. He walked two and struck out three.

Although this wasn't as bad as his last outing, when he allowed eight runs on 12 hits over four innings, this still wasn't a great performance from Olson. The righty has now sustained losses in his last three starts, and he has a 10.43 ERA during the rough stretch. It's quite a reversal for Olson, as he had a 1.92 ERA across his first 10 appearances of the season. Fantasy managers will hope he gets back on track in his next scheduled start, which is tentatively set for Monday against a tough Atlanta lineup on the road.

  • CJ Abrams doubles and homers as Nationals beat Tigers 7-5 for 5th straight win

    Stats

  • Tigers' Eddys Leonard: Back in action for Toledo

    Rotowire

Leonard (oblique) was reinstated from Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list June 4 and has gone 3-for-18 with a double, two walks, an RBI and a run scored in five games since rejoining the club.

Leonard had resided on the shelf at Toledo since early April with a left oblique strain. Before being activated, Leonard made eight rehab appearances with Single-A Lakeland and went 5-for-22 with a double and two stolen bases.

  • Tigers' Alex Faedo: Slated for mound work

    Rotowire

Faedo (hip) will throw a bullpen session Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Faedo looks set to throw off a mound for the first time since he landed on the 15-day injured list last week with inflammation in his surgically-repaired right hip. He looks to be closing in on a rehab assignment and shouldn't need too many appearances before being activated since he hasn't missed extensive time.

  • Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Cleared to start Saturday

    Rotowire

Flaherty (back) said he's feeling better after receiving a pain-killing injection Tuesday and has been cleared to start Saturday's game against the Astros in Houston, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Flaherty was scheduled to play catch Wednesday and will throw a bullpen session Thursday, but unless the Tigers indicate that his back is still aching coming out of either of those activities, he shouldn't face any restrictions while he slots back into the rotation this weekend. The right-hander has delivered excellent returns on the Tigers' one-year, $14 million investment on him this offseason, as he'll head into Saturday's outing with a 3-4 record, 3.22 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 94:10 K:BB across 72.2 innings through his first 12 starts with Detroit.

  • Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Gets first day off since call-up

    Rotowire

Malloy is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Malloy had started at designated hitter or in left field in each of the Tigers' seven games since his June 3 call-up, going 3-for-19 with a home run and a 5:8 BB:K. Though his .636 OPS thus far in his MLB career isn't anything special, the Tigers likely aren't ready to pull the plug on Malloy as an everyday player just yet. With Malloy on the bench Wednesday, the Tigers will give Riley Greene a day off in the outfield and have him serve as the team's DH.
